Material info

On this page, we introduce the materials used in our handmade leashes, handles and hands-free walking system.

It is recommended to always consider your dog's weight and leash behaviour when choosing materials for your gear. Generally, it is good to multiply the dog's weight with 7 to choose materials strong enough. For example if your dog weights 20 kg's, you count 20 x 7 = 140. This means that breaking load should be minimum of 140 kg's.

Our leashes have been designed so that the other components are strong enough as long as you choose the webbing and buckle according to your dog's weight.

WEBBINGS

We use two different webbings in our leash products: SOFT webbing and HEXA webbing.

They have very similar features:

  • PVC-coated webbing with polyester core
  • 100% waterproof and bacteria-resistant and therefore they don't get ugly and smelly
  • Amazing grip, even when wet!
  • Don't harden even in severe frost
  • Easy to clean - just rinse with water or wipe clean with a damp cloth. If there is any stubborn dirt on the leash, you can also use handwashing liquid (ex. Fairy) to clean the leash. Remember to rinse it properly afterwards.

Please check the breaking loads for each webbing below ⬇️

SOFT webbing

SOFT webbing is our custom webbing with a smooth matte surface.

BREAKING LOADS:

13 mm / 320 kg

19 mm / 450 kg

We recommend the 13mm to small and medium sized dogs, and 19 mm to medium and large sized dogs.

HEXA webbing

Hexa webbing has a beautiful honeycomb pattern on the surface.

Hexa webbing's inner core has recently been reformed. The new core is a lot stronger than the earlier one. The new core is woven from both directions, which makes it very strong and non-stretchy!

Breaking loads:

10 mm / 240 kg

16 mm / 380 kg

20 mm / 450 kg

25 mm / 630 kg

SNAP HOOKS

We offer three types of snap hooks in two different colors. If you choose a black snap hook, other hardware will also be black and vice versa.

Here below you can find detailed information of each hook (webbing width it is used with / breaking load / weight / total length).

Basic snap hook

PLEASE NOTE! With this type of hooks (same form as BGB), always remember to check the compatibility with the D-ring of the collar/harness you are using. With too large hook/too small D-ring, the hook can come away if it rotates to a specific position.

Available in black and silver.

Remember to take care of your dog's gear 🐾

  • We recommend to clean the products always as soon as possible
  • Let the products dry hanging
  • It is always good to dry the metal parts when they get wet
  • To maintain the functionality of the snap hooks, a little drop of lock- or gun oil every now and then is good
  • Remember to check your dog's gear regularly to make sure they are whole and safe to use!
  • PVC coated webbings: if the polypropylene webbing from the inside is fraying from the ends where the webbing is cut, just trim the white tufts with a scissor.
